About
Women in Their 20s is a social/discussion & dinner group in Washington, D.C. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month. All are welcome to join us. WiTT is a great way to make new friends and meet other queer women in a fun and friendly setting.
WiTT now meets at 8:00 P.M. on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month at the offices of the DC Center, a community center for GLBT in Washington DC.
The DC Center is located at 1111 14th Street NW, Suite 350. The closest intersection is 14th & L. To get to WiTT by Metro, you can get off at either Farragut North (on the red line) or Farragut West/McPherson Square (on the orange & blue lines).
Women in Their 20s is an off-shoot of a group called the Twenties Group (now a group for men), and was created to be a safe and social space for queer women. WITT has been meeting for over 10 years, and has grown in membership over that time. About 15-20 women regularly attend the meetings, and more than 600 receive our e-mail newsletter.
The group is led by a steering committee and discussions are led by a team of rotating facilitators. Facilitators lead discussions on a range of topics both silly and serious. We are not affiliated with any religious or political organizations, and welcome women of all perspectives and experiences.
Beyond our regular meetings, WITT is also involved in the GLBT community of Washington, DC in varying ways. We sponsor films and have volunteers at the Reel Affirmations film festival; we have a table at Youth Pride and Capital Pride; and we work in conjunction with other community organizations.
We also coordinate a variety of social activities and events. In the past, we have sponsored trips to the beach; tubing trips in Harper’s Ferry; snow-tubing in Pennsylvania; trips to some of the various museums in the city; and dancing at the Phase after our Friday meeting.
